Abstract
In the course of our study of the reactions of tosylhydrazones, 10 we found that when treated with 1.5 equiv of K 2 CO 3 at reflux temperature, tosylhydrazone (1a) disappeared within 3 h (Scheme 1a), but in the presence of 0.1 equiv of triphenylphosphine, this process required more than 5 h (Scheme 1b), and if 1.0 equiv of triphenylphosphine was used, the process can be extended to more than 12 h (Scheme 1c).
