Abstract

The synthesis of several substituted a, a-diphenyl-N-benzhydrylnitrones is described. A comparison of synthetic methods involving either alkylation of benzophenone oxime anions with benzhydryl halides or the condensation of diary1 ketimines with N- benzhydrylhydroxylamine is presented. The nitrones were thermally isomerized to the corresponding oxime 0-ethers.
