Abstract: Methods have been developed for the synthesis of new ligands bearing imidazole groups. Tris (imidazoly1) ethane and tris (imidazo1yl) butane derivatives have a more expanded geometry than the known tris (imidazolyl) carbinols, leading in at least one case to better binding to metals.
