Abstract

New mesogenic homologous series of Schiff base cinnamates comprising a naphthalene moiety were prepared by condensing different 4 (4'-n-alkoxy cinnamoyloxy) benzaldehydes with 2-amino naphthalene. All the synthesized compounds were characterized by combination of elemental analysis and spectroscopic techniques. All the homologues synthesized exhibit mesomorphism.
