Abstract
Conclusions Compounds incorporating the naphthalene chromophore and a diester with a low reduction potential exhibit particularly fast photosensitized electron transfer, even though the two groups do not interact in the ground state. Singlet quenching by electron transfer occurs over sufficiently long distances that geometric requirements for quenching are largely removed.
