Abstract
The dehydrogenation of secondary anilines with sulfur at elevated temperatures has been reported previously from this Laboratory. 8 In the penultimate step in a series of reactions producing camphor from alpha pinene, isobornylaniline was dehydrogenated with sulfur to camphor anil in good yield. Camphor anil has been reported4 also to be formed in a similar dealkanation by the action of sulfur on the tertiary amine, methylbornylaniline. ...
