Abstract
Introduction.-In previous papers of this series, the reactions of 2, 4-dinitrobenzenesulfenyl chloride (I) with symmetrical alkynes3 and with aromatic hydrocarbons4 were examined. It was demonstrated that I adds to synimetrical alkynes to form the 1: l adducts (equation 1) and that the aluminum chloride-catalyzed substitution (equation 2, Br= aryl) with aromatic hydrocarbons is a general reaction.
