Abstract

1 not been described hitherto, but theoretically might be formed by thecondensation of 4- iodopyridine alkyl iodides with y-picoline quaternary salts. We have accordingly made attempts to prepare the methiodide and ethiodide of 4-iOd0-pyridine by heating 4- chloropyridine with the appropriate alkyl iodide.
