Abstract
Bis-allylic oxidations of 3, 3-disubstituted-1, 4-cyclohexadienes, derived from Birch reduction- alkylations of benzoic acid derivatives, have provided 2, 5-cyclohexadien-l-ones. 1* 2 The cyclohexadienones have proven to be valuable substrates for a variety of chemical and photochemical rearrangements.'
