Abstract

CH, O CHIO in the MIKES method, viz. analysis for the mass of the precursor ion as well as that of the fragments, makes the method highly specific. Mescaline could, therefore, be identified in 0. spinosior simply on the basis of its molecular weight (211) and its fragmentation by loss of NH3 from the protonated species.
