Abstract

Abstract Electrophilic gem-dimethyl cyclopropenes react with diiron enneacarbonyl to give (η 3: η 1 allylcarbonyl) iron tricarbonyl complexes. These complexes, bearing in this work electron withdrawing substituents, are shown to be rather labile thermally and photochemically, leading easiyl to isoprenic diene-iron tricarbonyl complexes.
