Abstract

In 1940, Heathcotel reported that methionine sulfoximine, the toxic factor of nitrogen trichloridetreated zein, inhibits the growth of Leuconostoc mes-enteroides P-60 by interfering2v3 with the utilization of methionine. Later, Ackermann4 reported that methoxinine and ethionine inhibit the growth of influenza virus in tissue culture and that their effect is countered by methionine.
