Abstract

Condensation of (Ia-b) with the enol-lactones(IIa-d) to give the trypCamines(tII) was carried out by boiling benzene solutions of equimolar amounts of the components. The structures of the tryptamides obtained were confirmed by their IR and PMR spectra, and by a positive Ehrlich color reaction, indicating the presence of a free 2-position in the indole ring.
