Abstract
The reactivity of different phenol substrates with nitric oxide and peroxynitrite was investigated. In general, nitration is the major reaction with peroxynitrite, while reactions with aqueous solutions of nitric oxide led to mixtures of nitro and nitroso derivatives depending upon the phenol.
