Abstract

In contrast, the isomeric [1,3]oxazolo[4,5-d]pyrimidines II (Figure [1] ) are poorly studied. Some have been obtained from 4-amino-5-hydroxypyrimidine and its derivatives by condensations with ortho esters [10] [11] and benzoic anhydrides. [12] These methods are obviously unsuitable for the introduction of functional substituents at position 7 of the [1,3]oxazolo[4,5-d]pyrimidine system.
