Abstract

Abstract A direct route to coumarin derivatives from phenols and propiolic acids has been developed. Phenols react with propiolic acids in the presence of Pd (OAc) 2 as a catalyst to give coumarins in good yields. The simple process occurs under mild conditions without any additives.
