Abstract
Optically active 1, 2-diols and related substrates play significant roles as chiral auxiliaries in the synthesis of natural products and biologically active compounds. 1 Recently, chiral catalysts derived from certain C2-symmetric 1, 2-diol ligands have been found to show high enantioselectivities in some asymmetric reactions. 2 These successful results led us to design a more effective chiral ligand.
