Abstract

The Jacobsen reaction of monochlorotetramethylbenzenes was found to yield dichloroheptamethyldiphenylmethanes as by-product. Their indefinite structure proof was made on spectroscopy and synthesis. 1 H NMR spectra for a variety of polymethyldiphenylmethanes and their chlorine derivatives were determined.
