Abstract

We describe a general and high-yield one-step process for synthesis of tertiary and secondary amines from olefins, carbon monoxide, water, and a nitrogen source in the presence of transition-metal compounds tu catalysts. We find this chemistry, initially discovered by W. Reppe, applicable to a wide variety of olefins and nitrogen sources.
