Abstract

The macroporosity and acidity of cation exchange resins play a crucial role in the synthesis of dipyrromethanes and porphyrins; for the first time, cation exchange resins have been used as heterogeneous solid acid catalysts to produce dipyrromethanes and porphyrins in good yields.
