Abstract: Treating bis (tricyclohexy1tin) sulfide with boron trichloride in the presence of a carbonyl-containing compound converts the carbonyl unit into its corresponding thiocarbonyl analogue in high yield. Using this technique, several examples of thioaldehydes, thioketones, thiolactones, and thiolactams were prepared.
