Abstract
Previous papers hive reported the migratory ratios in the alkaline rearrangement of substituted benzils and phenanthrenequinones. l,'l A very marked proxiniity effect was noted in the rearrangement of 2-chlorobenzil,'l-chlorophenanthrenequinone'and Z-methylben~ il.~~~~~ The migration ratios in the alkaline rearrangement of 2-, 3-and 4-fluorobenzil and 1- fluorophenanthrenequinone have been determined as an extension of this study.
