Abstract
Introduction The striking facility with which cyclopropylcarbinyl, cyclobutyl and allylcarbinyl derivatives become interconverted in carbonium ion reactions, combined with the high solvolytic reactivity of cyclopropylcarbinyl and cyclobutyl derivatives, has aroused considerable interest as to the precise nature (s) of the intermediates involved.
