Abstract

Rate constants for acid-catalyzed hydride-transfer reactions from triethylsilane to a series of carbonyl compounds are compared with those for acid-catalyzed electron transfer from the excited state of [Ru (bpy) 3] 2+ to the same series of carbonyl compounds in the presence of HClO 4 in acetonitrile at 298 K.
