Abstract
Summary 1-Nitrodibenzofuran, prepared by nitration of 4-acetaminodibenzofuran followed by de-acetylation and de-amination, has been shown to differ from the supposed 1- nitrodibenzofuran obtained by direct nitration of dibenzofuran. The structure of the 1-nitro-4- acetaminodibenzofuran was established by a series of transformations relating the compound to the known 1-bromo-4-acetaminodibenzofuran.
