Abstract

The slight interest in monothioformals has been centered upon compounds containing a five- membered ring-readily prepared from a carbonyl coinpound and mercaptoethanol. Other examples of this type of compound can be prepared by the method of Bohme3 but only with difficulty and in low yields.
