Abstract

It has been shown that when a-aniinopyridine or a-acetylarniiiopyridine2 is treated with a lower alkyl halide3 or an alkylene dihalide,* the pyridine compound reacts to a large extent in the tautomeric imine form, and that only a small amount of the a-alkylaminopyridine is produced.
