Abstract
Phthalides, from pht, lialaldehydic acid were found to possess some biological activities [l, 2, 31. Oii the other hand, 3-aryl phthalide has been recently used in the synthesis of some biologicnlly active compounds, like islandicine, and in the synthesis of adrimycine and daunomycine [4], which possess some antit unior charact, ers. For such reasons their synthesis and the studies of their properties becames of interest.
