Abstract

Nitrogen trifluoride oxide, NF 3 0, is a fascinating molecule'-* which is isoelectronic with NF4+. Its N-0 bond possesses a high degree of double-bond character (" 0= 1.159 A),'and therefore, it is not a typical amine oxide with a long, semipolar N-0 bond and a negative charge on the oxygen atom.
