Abstract

Both (1) furan–maleimide Diels–Alder cycloaddition reaction and (2) furan–benzyne cycloaddition, Suzuki cross-coupling, boron-mediated aldol, and electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions were examined for the construction of the CDEF ring system of lactonamycin (1).
