Abstract

In the synthesis of 2, lO-diphenylanthracene (lo), cyclization might have occurred both ortho and para to the phenyl group. 3 However, only 2-phenyl-10- anthrone (9) was isolated and the hydrocarbon 10 derived from the anthrone 9 was homogeneous by g. 1. c.
