Abstract
Acetylation of Anhydrogossypo1.-A solution of 0.5 g. of anhydrogossypol in 10 g. of freshly distilled acetic anhydride was evaporated to dryness under diminished pressure. The residue was extracted with 20 cc. of anhydrous benzene and the benzene solution treated with 100 cc. of boiling ligroin. A precipitate formed which was filtered through a heated funnel while the solution was still hot. The product was recrystallized from benzene-- ...
