Abstract

Following our studies on 2,5-difluoro- and 2-chloro-5-fluoro-styrene [1], some exploratory work has been undertaken in the series of halogenated 2-vinylfluorenes and 1-vinylnaphthalenes [2]." l-Bromonaphthalene was acetylated with acetyl chloride and aluminium chloride and the resulting 1-acetyl-4-bromonaphthalene [3]" (I) reduced with aluminium isopropoxide and finally dehydrated to 1-bromo-4-vinylnaphthalene.
