Abstract
The condensation of methacrylic acid and some of its derivatives with cyclopentadiene was studied in an effort to ascertain whether the methyl group or the negative group such as the carboxyl would be in the endo position in the major adduct. It was found that the carboxyl and the amide group showed a preference for the em position.
