Abstract
Although compound 1 was not isolated from the reaction of ethylenediamine and ethyl trichloroacetate in the present work, even under conditions which approximate as closely as possible those which are reported to give it, its structure is strongly supported by elemental analyses.'It is concluded, therefore, that under many conditions 2 (X= C1) rather than 1 is likely to be the product of this reaction.
