Abstract
9-Substituted fluorenyl carbanions, 9-G-F1-, with G= Ar or Me, have been dimerized to (9-G- F1), by reaction in M ea 0 solution with PhSOzCH2X and bC (N02) X electron acceptors. Rate measurements revealed the following electron-accepting abilities: c-CeHlo (NOz) z> Me2C (N02) 2> PhSOzCH2Br, PhS02CH21> c-C6Hlo (N02) CN> c-C6Hlo (N02) S02C7H7> Me2C (N02) SOzC7H7> PhSOZCH2Cl.
