Abstract

The synthesis and thermal decomposition reactions in various solvents of 5-iodovaleryl, 6- iodohexanoyl, and 11-iodoundecanoyl peroxides are reported. In general, monomeric and dimeric ω, ω'-diiodides as well as varying amounts of alkyl iodides and, from the C5 peroxide, δ-valerolactone were found in all solvent systems. The corresponding ω-iodoacids were important as products only in methanol, where the methyl esters were found as well. ...
