Abstract

Reduction of the Nitro Condensation Products.-Mossy tin and concentrated hydrochloric acid were used and the mixture refluxed for one hour, made strongly alkaline with sodium hydroxide and extracted with ether. Upon evapo- ration of the ether, the ortho condensation compound yielded pearly white plates melting, after recrystallization from benzene, at 107'.
