Abstract
Earlier, it was reported'that sulfides and sulfones were cleaved in good yields to the hydrocarbon and mercaptan or sulfinic acid by sodium in liquid ammonia or lithium in methylamine. Another recent report3 has shown that sulfides can also be cleaved by the use of calcium hexammine.
