Abstract
Results and Discussion Synthesis and Reaction of Compound 1. Compound 1 was readily synthesized in five steps (48% yield) by using standard reactions that were slightly modified as noted in the Experimental Section. It reacted more vigorously than the 3-methyl analogue at 0" C to form products 2-4 as is shown in eq 1. A higher yield of 2 (70%) was obtained
