Abstract
3386 Tadashi Sato and Kengo Hayase [Vol. 64, No. 11 are obtained under acidic conditions.8' It has been well documented that the aldol reaction is reversible and accompanied by a facile dehydration in protic solvents. Thus the thermodynamically most stable compounds might be the product under these conditions.
