Abstract
Some new monomethine cyanine dyes derived from quinoline and benzothiazole have been prepared and characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, FTIR, FABHRMS, and visible spectroscopy. The dyes containing amino and acetamido groups were conveniently synthesized by the condensation of two p-toluenesulfonate heterocyclic quaternary salts and were obtained in the forms of iodide, bromide, and tosylate counteranions.
