Abstract

Chiral glycidic acid derivatives have received much attention as valuable chiral building blocks for several drugs and natural products. For instance, they have been employed in the synthesis of Diltiazem 1 and the side chain of Taxol 2 (Fig. 1).[1]Although many synthetic methods for chiral epoxides have been developed, reports on asymmetric syntheses of chiral glycidic acid derivatives are rare and further investigation is needed.
