Abstract
In an earlier communicationl we described the reactions of chI oro acetic and bromoacetic acids with the formylating agent prepared from dimethylformamide and phosphorus oxychloride. While with the first acid diformylation took place giving a derivative of chloromalonic dialdehyde, a derivative of triformylmethane was isolated from the reaction mixture after formylation of bromoacetic acid.
