Abstract
Although a-functionalization of amines and arenes is well-established, such functionalization of chalcogeno compounds has been limited and undeve10ped. Z~ For example, it is known that anodic acetoxylation of sulfides takes place only when the concentration of both a substrate and a supporting electrolyte, acetate ions, is extremely high? From a synthetic viewpoint, this is not 80 practical, particularly on a large scale.
