Abstract

Summary Application of the phase-transfer technique to the cobalt carbonyl-catalyzed carbonylation of secondary benzyl halides gives either monocarbonyl and double carbonyl insertion or coupling of organic halides as the major reaction, depending on the experimental conditions.
