Abstract
It is known that 2, 6-dichlorodiphenylamine (II) is the main intermediate in the synthesis of ortophenum (I)(voltaren, diciofenac sodium)[1]. Compound II is used to prepare I by N- chioroacetylation to obtain III, which is subjected to Friedel-Crafts cyclization. The obtained l- (2, 6-dichlorophenyl) indolin-2-one (IV) is then subjected to alkaline bydrolysis to yield I. i~ CH2CI
