Abstract

Olefin cross metathesis (CM) was applied to the synthesis of 6-O-substituted erythromycin derivatives. The reactions were catalyzed by transition metal alkylidene complexes, particularly bis (tricyclohexylphosphine) benzylidine ruthenium (IV) dichloride (Grubbs' first- generation catalyst).
