Abstract: The radical anions of 2, 3-naphthobarrelene (2) and 2, 3-naphthobarrelane (3) were studied by ESR spectroscopy and polarography in order to investigate the importance of long-range coupling, 1, 3-na interaction, ion pairing phenomena, and steric and strain effects in these species.
