Abstract
Summary 1. The absorption spectra of crystals of two cesium cobaltous chlorides, dipyridinium cobaltous chloride, diquinolinium cobaltous chloride and diquinolinium cobaltous chloride monohydrate have been measured. Comparison of the spectra of these crystals with the spectrum of the solution of cobaltous chloride in concentrated hydrochloric acid shows that the same complex ion, CoC14--, is present in all.
